The White Princess

white princessWhen I was little, I varied between wanting to be a princess or a ballerina. I mean, what little girl didn’t have those occupations float by their imagination at one time or another. Well, even with the glamour of a crown, the gowns, the balls, etc., goodness gracious, the DRAMA! Philippa Gregory continues her “Cousins War” series with the delightful, loosely based historical fiction novel, The White Princess, which follows the beautiful Princess Elizabeth of York and the chaotic reign of Henry Tudor (VII). And ladies and gentlemen, Gregory does not skimp on the drama!

I understand that with these types of novels, the historical accuracy is very minimal and the author takes generous liberties with filling in the holes of history – but who cares! Love me a good novel full of intrigue, history, deceit and love! A sneak peek into the lives of royalty and the struggles, stress and pride that goes into being the ruler of their countries. But all along, Gregory is clever at placing her female characters as the true makers of great kings.

If you need an easy read, but want to feel like you are gaining content and a solid look at the lives of the history of infamous monarchs – take a gander into any of Gregory’s novels!
